Keeping the magic alive:
Why is it important to have my chimney swept?
We swift away the soot and sprinkle a little magic!
During normal operation of your chimney, a layer of creosote builds up on the inside of the chimney, restricting the flow. The creosote can also catch fire, setting the chimney and the building alight and even more importantly, not having your chimney swept once a year will negate you home insurance.

Historically in Britain Chimney sweeping was done by the master sweep. He took apprentices typically workhouse or orphan boys and trained them to climb the chimneys.

The first mechanical sweeper was invented by George Smart in 1803 but was resisted in the UK. Joseph Glass marketed an improved sweeping machine in 1828.
At Merlin Chimney Sweeps we are all about the magic,
Some of our clients may recall fond memories as a child when their chimneys were swept...

From making a special wish when the brush pop out to finding a dragon egg (if you're lucky!)
Wedding Bells & the quirky tradition...
Some 200 years ago, a Chimney Sweep saved the life of King George II by stopping his runaway horse and carriage... and so started the tradition to have a Chimney Sweeps bring you luck at your wedding.
This tradition has been very popular in modern times with the Sweep turning up in traditional costume.
Merlin Chimney Sweeps would be honoured to offer this service on your special day.
